Sompot Chidgasornpongse (b.1980) grew up in Samutprakarn,
a province near Bangkok. Film has always been his
great passion, along with other arts-related media:
animation, design, music, and book. At 21, he co-wrote
a critically acclaimed play "You're Gorgeous,
Dear," and won Sod-Sai Award for Best Play
and Best Script. Having graduated with a bachelor’s
degree in Interior Architecture and receiving Best
Thesis Award from Chulalongkorn University, he began
working in the film industry, being an intern for
“The Adventure of Iron Pussy” (2003), directed by
Apichatpong Weerasethakul. He was also Apichatpong
Weerasethakul's second assistant director in “Tropical
Malady”(2004) and "Syndrome and a Century"(2006), second assistant director in "3
Needles" (2004, an independent Canadian film
by Thom Fitzgerald), casting assistant in "Holly"
(2004, an independent American film by Guy Moshe),
assistant director and co-writer in Weesasethakul's
short project, "Worldly Desires" (2005.)
His personal shorts
were shown in many festivals. He's currently studying at CalArts, USA.
