Weerasthakul’s video installation, “Secret
love affair (for Tirana)” constructed
a broken narrative for audience to fill, expand,
and imagine between the void. Drawn from the
nostalgic mood of an old Thai film, Apichatpong
uses images of man and woman glancing and
smiling to each other - between two screens
at the corner on the floor- suggesting the
most intimate manner. Gesture of audience
standing silently in line, with their heads
bowed, while watching the video, render the
manner of people when attending a funeral.
